About Raag-The Music Society of GIBS

In a college environment, where academics and deadlines often dominate, The Music Society of GIBS: Raag stands as a sanctuary of creativity, relaxation, and emotional expression. It is a platform that nurtures not only musical talent but also promotes teamwork, self-confidence, and a sense of community among students. The society acts a space where students from various disciplines come together, bound by a shared passion for music, creating an atmosphere that enriches the overall cultural fabric of the campus. RAAG came into existence in the year 2024 prior to which music was part of Mudra – The Dance Society of GIBS. RAAG is the pulsating heart of GIBS, bringing together students wh share a profound love for music in all it’s forms. RAAG offers a welcoming and supportive environment to grow, learn and perform to a seasoned musician or someone just begining to explore the world of music.

Aim of the Society
RAAG society aims to:

1) Foster love for music among students with opportunities to explore various genres and forms of music.
2) Provide a platform for budding musicians to express themselves through performances and creative compositions.
3) Encourage a deep understanding and appreciation for various musical styles, including classical, contemporary, and fusion.
4) Cultivate teamwork, confidence, and leadership through musical activities.

Objectives of the Society

1) To encourage musical talent by providing a platform for students to discover, develop, and showcase their musical abilities, whether in vocals, instruments, or production.
2) To offer students a space to express their creativity and emotions through various genres and forms of music, enhancing their artistic capabilities
3) Mindfulness and Inner Peace: The emphasis on mindfulness and meditation will equip members with practical tools to achieve inner peace and mental clarity, helping them navigate daily challenges more effectively.
4) Meaningful Spiritual Engagement: The club will serve as a platform for rich spiritual discussions, allowing members to share insights and explore various spiritual philosophies, thereby broadening their perspectives.
5) Culture of Respect and Understanding: The exchange of diverse ideas will foster a culture of respect and understanding among members, promoting inclusivity and appreciation for different viewpoints.
6) Supportive Environment for Exploration: Members will find a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings, encouraging open dialogue and mutual supportin their spiritual journeys.
7) Strengthened Interpersonal Connections: The interconnectedness among members will lead to the formation of lasting relationships, enhancing the overall club experience and personal fulfillment.
8) Holistic Development: The combination of community support, personal growth, mindfulness practices, and spiritual exploration will contribute to the holistic development of each member.


Code of Conduct for Society Members:

By adhering to following code of conduct, members of Raag will contribute to creating a positive and supportive environment where artistic expression can flourish, and all members can thrive. Violations of this code may result in disciplinary action, up to and inclusion suspension or expulsion from the society.

  1. All members shall work under guidance of the Society’s President, Vice President and Faculty Coordinator(s) selected by the college authority.
  2. Treat all members with respect, regardless of their background, skill level or personal belives. Embrace diversity and foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and welcomed.
  3. Attend rehearsals, workshops, and events punctually and prepare to participate.
  4. Communicate openly and respectfully with fellow members, instructors and society members and society leaders.
  5. Work collaboratively with other members to achieve common common goals, whether in rehearsals, performances or planning activities.
  6. Strive for excellence in all musical performances, aiming to continually improve individual skills and ensemble cohesion.
  7. Take constructive feedback graciously and use it as an opportunity for growth.
  8. Fulfill any assigned responsibilities promptly and to the best of your ability.
  9. Take ownership of your actions and it’s impact on society and it’s members.
  10. Respect the equipments, facilities, and resources provided by college for rehearsals and performances. Use equipment and facilities responsibily and report any damages or issues promptly.
  11. Avoid plagiarism or unauthorized use of copyrighted material in performances or other society activities.
  12. Uphold the reputation of Music Society and the college in all interactions, both on and off campus. Avoid behaviour that brings disrepute the society or the college community.
  13. Prioritize the safety and well-being of yourself and others during rehearsals, performances, and any other society activities.
  14. Abide all college policies and regulations, including those related to conduct, alcohol and drug use, and harassment.
