ABOUT THE PROGRAME

The number of available seats in MBA program in Delhi collages are grossly inadequate for the number of students seeking admission to management courses in NCR. Further, looking at the growth of corporate sector, the executives, having strong educational base besides application of knowledge for resource development and utilization will be in great demand. In the quest of promoting skilled based managerial professionals giBS has started MBA 2nd Shift which will nurture the students to take up challenges in modern global organizations
MBA 2nd Shift strives to satisfy the need to train the aspiring managers to take up global challenges and bridge the competency gap to meet the contemporary requirements of the industry. giBS nurtures students to help them:
· To become effective leaders by making them understand the social, economic, political, technological and ecological environment of modern society, who have the potential to transform organizations.
· To encourage analytical thinking and inculcate entrepreneurial skills among the budding young professionals.
· To develop true sense of values values so as to promote and maintain high ethical standards.

The curriculum design and pedagogy emphasizes the development of students' skills and abilities to apply management theories and concepts to live problems in business and industry. Students are expected to achieve high standards of excellence. Teaching methods include - lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, outbound based experiential learning activities, educational excursion, role plays, simulation exercises, structured and unstructured group work, and field visits.
The emphasis is on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements. Consistent with advances in teaching technology, the programme integrates the use of computers in learning the basic principles in different functional areas of management. It also enables students to acquire skills in identifying and dealing with complex problems in management, especially in this era of globalization of industrial and commercial activity and the resulting intense competition. The students also undertake several field-based projects so that they can get better insights into the workplace reality. The curriculum is revised on an ongoing basis through discussions with practicing managers from the industry to reflect current business needs.
The first year of the course has been designed to equip the learner with the ground rules of the Management concepts like Organizational Behavior, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, Business Communication and Environment; and Marketing, Operations and Human Resource Management.
The Second year builds on these fundamentals and requires a student to specialize in one major and one minor area. Five papers have to be taken for the major area and three for the minor area of Specialization. A student can specialize in five areas as Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology and Systems and Global Business Management.

The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi publishes the Admission Brochures for making admission through Common Entrance Tests (CET) for the specific Academic Session. Through this Brochure, the University invites applications from eligible candidates for admissions to these programs. The price of this Admission Brochure along with Application Form is decided by the GGS IP University. The cost of Admission Brochure is non-refundable. No other fee is required to be submitted along with the Application Form. The Admission Brochure along with Application Form is available on 1st June on all working days or as notified in the University Web site http://www.ggsipu.nic.in or http://www.ipu.ac.in
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor's Degree of a recognized University in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate
Note: The Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply subject to following:
That they are able to produce the proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counseling/admission.
If the result of qualifying examination is not declared till the date of counseling/admission, his/her admission in that case will be provisional subject to the following conditions: Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- in the prescribed Performa given in the Admission Brochure.
The candidate will have to submit the result of qualifying examination on or before the University specified date to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Room No.108, Administrative Block, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi-110006 through concerned Dean/Principal/Director where the admission has been granted
In case the candidate fails to submit his/her final result of qualifying examination to prove his/her eligibility on or before the specified date, whatsoever the reason may be, his/her admission will be treated as null and void and the entire fee will be forfeited and under no circumstances he/she will be allowed to appear in the End Term Exam.
Physical Fitness: The applicant must be in good mental and physical health and should be free from any physical defect which is likely to interfere with his/her studies including active outdoor duties required of a professional. Accordingly, all the students shall be required to submit a Medical Certificate indicating fitness from a Registered Medical Practitioner as per format given in the Admission Broacher.
Age Limit: 35 Years (As on the commencement of the Academic Session)
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit may be relaxed up to a maximum of five years in exceptional cases by the Admission Officer of the concerned program if he/she is satisfied with the merit of the case. Candidates exceeding the upper age limit up to five years may provisionally apply/ appear in the Common Entrance Test. However, they would be required to submit to the satisfaction of the Admission Officer an explanation regarding the gap period, i.e., the details of the period spent by him/her after passing the qualifying examination to justify the relaxation. Such explanation should be in the form of an application to the concerned Admission Officer along with supporting documents (if any).
Relaxation in the Requirement of Marks for Reserved Category Candidates: Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Widows or Wards of Defense Personnel / Physically Handicapped will be allowed 5% relaxation of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement, irrespective of the fact whether there exists any reservation for any category of such candidates or not.

Summer Training
At the outset of the third semester, all students will have to undergo summer training of 8 weeks with a corporate industry by taking up a project study. The student compulsorily has to undergo summer training under the supervision of the department in organizations as approved by the Faculty from time to time. All the students have to submit their Summer Training Project Report within a period of one month to the Institute; this period shall be counted from the last date of completion of their Summer Training.
Specialization Details:
* All students must specialize in one major and one minor area. Five papers must be taken for the major area and three papers for the minor area of specialization. * Three elective papers must be taken in third semester and two elective papers in the fourth semester from the area selected for major specialization. * The students are encouraged to choose from five elective streams viz., Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology and Systems & Global Business Management.

Syllabus for the Fourth Semester shall be completed by February 28th every year and for the remaining period the students shall continue to work on the assigned project. Every student will be assigned a project at the end of the Third Semester and it will be pursued by him/her under the supervision of an internal supervisor.
